Print Screen Utility, I use PrintKey 2000

printkeyWhen I want to capture a computer screen, I use PrintKey. Version 5.10 is freeware, and you can snaffle a copy here.

Safe to use, I know several large corporations which use it.

The (now) commercial version is available from here.

Thanks goes to this site for reminding me to blog it.

September 2008 update
Do not believe this:
Printkey 2000 will not work with XP, Vista or Windows2003.

It does work, I used PrintKey 2000 regularly through the Longhorn client -> Vista Beta -> Vista SP1 test cycle, and it just worked.

For other screen capturing utilities, see this post.

Dear Mr. “Do not believe this”

PrintKey 2000 was programmed in 1999 for use with Win97, Win 98, NT4.0 or Win2000. Clue: It was NOT programmed for use with newer operating systems and printers, and believe it or not, error messages will occur in new OS environments. Developer Alfred Bolliger would not claim otherwise.

    Jas,

    Thank you for your comment.

It's a credit to the developer that IT DOES WORK on Windows XP and Vista.

I've personally seen it deployed to 10,000 Windows XP desktops withour one issue being reported.
I've used it in Windows Vista since Longhorn client beta 5600, without any ill-effects.

I would contend that for the majority of the users of the FREE version, it will just work. For those that have issues, there is plenty of other choice out there.

    Dale.
