Microsoft, in the latest Service Pack for Office, blocked file associations for Lotus 1-2-3 files. Security was the reason given.
So what this means is that you can’t double click on WK4 files, and expect them to launch in Excel. Told the customer about a work-around, and off they went happy.
Six weeks later, the team was kicking around a request from our Lotus Notes developers,
please allow WK4 files to be launched by Lotus Notes
‘Why’, the team wondered.
<blink> Light goes on.
I piped up:
That’ll be because the Lotus Notes client we are using, supports “Export to Lotus 1-2-3” as an option.
