You can use a USB Micro-B cable with a USB3 device.

USB3 Micro B cable on the left. Normal Micro B cable on the right. You’ll get USB2 speeds, but it does work.  Handy if you’ve left your only USB3 cable at home and brought your Seagate USB3 Portable Drive along with you.
