“Your anti-virus product is stopping me from working.”
A familiar situation where the customer was running an out of date application, relied on old of date in a web forum, then proceeded to blame their IT provider.
VirtualBox was displaying this error when trying to start a Windows XP client hosted on a client box.
What the customer advised
I did some research
(i.e. I did a Google and found this article Diagnosing VirtualBox Hardening Issues )
I tried excluding the processes the articles recommended, with no success.
Then I noticed that the version of VirtualBox they were running was 6.0.6. A version released over 18 months ago.
I advised the customer to update VirtualBox to the latest release, 6.0.24; which resolved the issue.
