I was revisiting the issue of Windows File System Tunnelling today , 12 years after I wrote the original article.  Some things never change, such as a feature introduced in Windows 95, which can still be found in Windows 11.

Inside jokes

File System Tunnelling was inspired by Quantum Mechanics.  Tunnelling is a QM concept.
The details of the now vanished file, are called Quarks.  Raymond Chen has the skinny on why.

Windows Registry files are stored in Hives.  The details are stored in “Cells”.
Because Bees.
